For my Phd thesis I investigate together with Olivier Klein and Karen Douglas, if and how Internet use can facilitate collective actions, in particular such that take place offline. I study the impact of one's self-presentation as a group member online, and the moderating individual (i.e., ingroup identification) and contextual variables (i.e., anonymity/identifiability).  

In addition, I investigate how social media can influence intergroup relations, by encouraging intergroup contact and thereby reducing prejudices. Recently, I also started a project with Anastasia Kavada (University of Westminster) where we aim to assess how members of Greenpeace International act online, and how this affects their engagement in collective actions.

Previously, I worked in the field of user experience research, in particular on the development of an interface that allows communication for emergency staff in high-risk environments, such as mass casualities.
